The Association of College and Research Libraries defines Information Literacy as the ability to "recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information."
Mission:
The Vise Library's Information Literacy Program strives to promote lifelong learning by teaching the members of the Cumberland University community how to locate, evaluate, and apply information effectively. We believe that information literacy is essential in the success of the student both in and out of the classroom. We emphasize the teaching of concepts over skills to ensure that students may apply information literacy in all areas of their life.
